There is something like species in the mullein family. You do find it in some herbal teas in stores. This hydrangea is now 3 years old. This is the first year that I have seen the pink and only on the largest blooms. Maybe it just needed to be more mature.
One thing about the baby birds — they are not afraid of people. The chickadees sit very close to us and I was maybe 6 feet from this guy. He just kept munching away. In fact, he ate seed the whole time we were eating our lunch outside! There was a mixture of thistle and safflower seeds in that feeder.
